We, the senior class of 2006 from The Chinquapin School, started a restoration project at Sheldon Lake in January through our Environmental Science class. We took several trips to Sheldon Lake and have worked very hard to make sure this project is noticeable for many years to come. Our hard work included planting grasses along the lake's shore, collecting water quality tests, learning different techniques of fishing, and ways to distinguish species inhabiting Sheldon Lake. Other research included the study of Sheldon Lake's history, the existing invasive species affecting the lake, the types of fishes living there, and contacting locals to acquire more information. This project is in service to inform the community of the dangers that affect Sheldon Lake and other natural environments that need to be preserved. We hope you enjoy and take this information into consideration.
