Old Business

I.          Alumni Nights  

  • In an effort to increase Alumni visibility on campus and to provide students with support, alumni are invited to attend Alumni Nights for the boys at school.
  • Volunteers are needed to go to school in the evenings (9pm – 10pm) and share you Chinquapin experience to the boys.  Ice cream and cookies are provided.

II.         Fundraising Opportunity — Toyota Center

  • The Toyota Center has fundraising opportunities for organizations to service a concession stand to receive a percentage of sales.
  • Alumni can volunteer their time during a Rockets game to raise funds for The Alumni Scholarship and everyone is encouraged to bring one more person to participate.
  • The Alumni Association can work a concession stand with 6-12 people during the Rockets season.
  • Lupe will obtain more information on minimum number of games we can work and more information on TABC Certification.
  • Please email Karina at karina.a.navarro@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering your time or to get more information.

NEW BUSINESS

I.          Fundraising – Raffle

  • Other fundraising events can include a raffle.
  • Alex, Fausto and Rissel will work on soliciting companies for donations.
  • Kathy will provide the Alumni Association with a solicitation letter to use.
  • Alumni who can donate items to raffle are encouraged to contact Karina.

II.         Non-Profit Status and By Laws

  • Lupe presented information on establishing The Alumni Association as a non-profit organization to increase structure and to be recognized by the State. 
  • The Association decided to first work on establishing By Laws and appointing officers.
  • The members present will email each other with By Laws suggestions to present at next meeting and to start appointing officers.

III.       Alumni Social

  • In an effort to increase Alumni participation, an alumni social will be planned.
  • A Tailgating Party is tentatively planned for December 5, 2006 where a barbeque will be provided followed by our very own Chinquapin Varsity Burrs game against First Baptist.
  • Come and support our Burrs!!
  • An Alumni Happy Hour is also in the works.
  • Maribel, Milagros and Ana will work on these events and keep us updated.

  • Make sure to click on the Alumni Association Tab to update your information.
  • Check out your pictures!!  Submit your old Chinquapin pictures to dheinzer@chinquapin.org to be posted on our web site and remind everyone of your Chinquapin experience.
